Ukraine - 22nd anniversary of Salesian work in Odesa

01 December 2022

Odesa, Ukraine - November 2022 - In 1999, the Salesians received the building of a former kindergarten in the city of Odesa and local youth became the first students of the Salesian work. The abandoned building was renovated and today, 22 years later, it has been turned into a Charitable Foundation, called "Don Bosco Odesa." Various activities take place here, all aimed at children and young people, so that they become "good Christians and upright citizens." On the 22nd anniversary, more than 250 people gathered at the work to commemorate this important date and to pray together. Fr. Cezarii Chervinskii, abbot of the community, presided over the celebration. Later in the day, sports tournaments and master classes were held by representatives of the organizations that collaborate with the Salesians, including several Martial Arts schools, the Federation of "Sport Orienteering," the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, the Children's City Polyclinic "Сompas" №6 and the medical society "Into Sana." The Odesa Salesian Family extended thanks to all those who helped organize this event, especially Olena Ponomarenko and Oleksii Dyshel and the parishioners of the city of Sorrento, Italy, who sent funds for gifts for the children.
