12 December 2022

Tokyo, Japan – December 2022 – On December 8, 2022, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Salesian Family gained three new members. These three sisters are members of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus. Also, at the Tokyo provincial house of the Caritas sisters of Jesus, three sisters made perpetual vows. Congratulations! Two of the three newly professed Sisters are Vietnamese and one is Japanese. The three sisters who made perpetual vows are heading from Vietnam. In the Solemn Eucharist, the Archbishop of Tokyo, Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi, S.V.D. stressed: "Life is a gift from God. We need to appreciate life... During his 2019 visit to Japan, Pope Francis said: 'No one can live alone. We need each other. May the Holy Spirit help us to help each other grow... in this difficult situation.' The Church wants us to light up the hope of Christ because He is the source of our hope."

Fr. Jacob Hamaguchi, SDB Provincial of Japan, and a few Salesian confreres also attended this Solemn Profession Mass. There were also present several members of the Salesian Family. Moreover, bishops, priests, religious and friends from Vietnam also came to pray for the Caritas sisters of Jesus.

Caritas Sisters of Jesus Congregation was founded in 1937 in Miyazaki, Japan, and now is present with more than 900 members in 16 different countries on all 5 continents. We pray, that also our three newly professed Sisters may become an effective sign of God's love for the most disadvantaged people.
