Central America – Online Meeting of the Salesian Family

20 January 2023

Central America - January 2023 - On January 14, members of the Salesian Family of the Central American Province (CAM) participated in an online meeting on the occasion of Salesian Family Days. About 100 participants from eleven different groups of the Salesian Family of the CAM Province were in attendance. The meeting was held with the aim of creating a space for reflection on the Rector Major's Strenna 2023, "AS THE YEAST IN TODAY'S HUMAN FAMILY. The Lay Dimension of the Family of Don Bosco," which was led by Fr. René Santos. Then there was a round table discussion during which Beatriz Castillo de Rivera, President of the FMA Past Pupils; Martín Calderón, Regional Manager of the Salesian Cooperators; a member of Volunteers with Don Bosco, and Marcela Villeda, representing the Salesian Youth Movement, shared their experiences. In a pleasant conversation led by Sister Claudia Linares, FMA, the roundtable participants reflected on how a path to sanctity can be lived from the lay vocation; what it means for the laity to be yeast in the face of the reality of today's world; and how the Salesian Family can be leaven among its recipients. Afterward, participants shared in small groups what most struck their attention about Strenna 2023 and how they can apply it concretely in their communities.
