Timor-Leste - Salesian Past Pupils carry out "Don Bosco loves the environment" activity

23 January 2023

Dili, East Timor - January 2023 - The Don Bosco Past Pupils of East Timor organized a day of environmental activities in two locations in the city of Dili: on the beach in front of the parish church in Motael and on the beach of "Bidau Santa Ana", also in Motael. The environmental activity, named "Don Bosco Loves the Environment" and inspired by Pope Francis' Encyclical "Laudato Sì," consisted of collecting abandoned waste on the beaches. Waste management and green campus in schools and universities constitute Salesian contributions to reducing global warming. The "Don Bosco Green Alliance," like other environmental movements around the world, encourages the use of the "3Rs" principle: Recycle, Reuse and Reduce, and among those who support this green alliance in Timor-Leste are: Fr. Anacleto Pires, Superior of the Salesian Vice-Province of Timor-Leste (TLS), Don Bosco Past Pupils residing in Dili, students of "Sts. Peter and Michael School," together with their teachers and other people of goodwill.
