30 January 2023

Guatemala City, Guatemala - January 2023 - The installation ceremony of Fr. Julio Andrés Navarro Mora as Superior of the Salesian Province of Central America (CAM) for the six-year period 2023-2029 was celebrated on January 29. The Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Hugo Orozco, Councilor for the Inter-American Region, representing the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime. During the homily, Fr. Orozco addressed some words to Fr. Navarro Mora: "Being a Provincial is not a vocation; it is a service within your Salesian vocation. From now on you are a Provincial Superior for your Salesian confreres, at their service, and it is part of the call that God had for you from your birth." He continued, "Let Don Bosco inspire your service as a Provincial. Feel like Don Bosco because you are a father to your confreres, the youth, and the Salesian Family." Fr. Orozco also thanked Fr. Ángel Prado, former CAM Provincial, for his six years as Provincial. At the end of the Eucharist, Fr. Navarro Mora, addressing the participants, thanked in advance the members of the Provincial Council for their support, the Salesians of the various communities, the Salesians in formation, the Salesian Family and the Salesian Youth Movement Council, and dedicated special words for his family and friends, as well as to Fr. Prado for his 18 years on the Provincial Council, as Councilor, Vicar and then as Provincial Superior. "Today it is up to us to keep the fire of the Salesian spirit burning," concluded the new Provincial.
