Italy - The relic of Blessed Rosario Livatino in Catania

Catania, Italy - January 2023 - The relic of Blessed Judge Rosario Livatino stopped in Catania on January 27 and 28. The initiative was promoted by the Salesian Province of Sicily (ISI), led by Fr. Giovanni D'Andrea, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Catania and "Salesians for the Social APS." The eventful two-day event opened in the morning of Jan. 27 with the reception of the relic at the "San Francesco di Sales" Institute in Cibali, accompanied by a meeting with numerous students from schools in the province of Catania. Afterward, the church remained open all afternoon for the veneration of the relic, while in the theater the Rector Major's Strenna 2023 was presented, and Dr. Luisa Turco, judge of the Juvenile Court of Caltanissetta, who knew Livatino, offered her testimony. The first day ended with a prayer vigil animated by the youth sector of Catholic Action of Catania. On January 28, students from the "St. Francis de Sales" Institute participated in a formative moment dedicated to the figure of the Blessed judge. Then, in the Don Bosco theater, a meeting was held on youth protagonist, and the beauty of legality and participatory citizenship, following the example of Judge Livatino, with volunteers from the Universal Civil Service of the Salesians of Sicily, volunteers from the Civil Service of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and students from Catania's higher education institutes. Finally, in the afternoon, a celebration of all the oratories and youth centers of the Archdiocese of Catania was held at the Salesian Oratory in Cibali.
