Dominican Republic - Minister of Labor and Salesian Province of Antilles sign agreement to promote decent jobs

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - January 2023 - On Jan. 31, the Ministry of Labor and the Salesian Province of the Antilles (ANT), through the "Fundación Salesiana Don Bosco," signed a letter of intent to cooperate for the promotion of decent jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, labor brokering, work placements, job orientation and facilitation of job placement for young students and graduates of the Dominican educational system. Fr. José Pastor Ramírez, SDB, Superior of the Salesian ANT Province, emphasized that migration is the result of the lack of work, and this agreement will be the beginning of a long journey to get young people job opportunities and to form them as good Christians and honest citizens. For his part, the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel De Camps García, indicated that this agreement wants to ensure that decent work and conditions are facilitated, highlighted the work done by the Salesian Technical Institute, and stated that young people represent the present and future of the country. Finally, Franklin Ortega of the "Fundación Salesiana Don Bosco" emphasized the importance of this agreement and thanked the Minister for the opportunity to collaborate.
