India - Six Clerics said perpetually Yes to the Lord at Savio Juniorate

Shillong, India - 24th May: Six Salesians made their perpetual profession today the 24th  May 2023 at Savio Juniorate Mawlai Shillong. Father Biju Michael, General Councillor for South Asia who is in the province for the extraordinary visitation was the main celebrant and received the perpetual vows of the clerics. Cl. Kerketta Gregory (IND), Cl. Khardewsaw Shanborlin (INS, Cl. Muliar Santreki (INS), Cl. Nongtdu Deiborlang (INS), Cl. Sohshang Jetendis (INS) and Cl. Wangsu Wangbo George (IND) committed themselves forever through religious profession. Father Paul O Lyngkot, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong, Fr. John Zosiama, Vice Provincial and nearly 20 Salesian priests joined at the Holy Mass celebration. The family members of the clerics were also present on the joyous occasion. The perpetual profession was held in the presence of hundreds of young boys of the apostolic school present there along with the brothers, sisters, friends and well-wishers of the six clerics.

The vibrant music and hymns sung by the apostolic boys added life to the liturgical celebration. Father Biju in his homily asked the perpetually professed clerics to thank God for the gift and the vocation given to them. He challenged the six clerics to make their life a theocentric, because it is God who calls them. Concluding his homily, Father Biju thanked the parents of the clerics for offering their sons to God and to the congregation.

The candidates came forward individually and pronounced the vows to commit totally to the Lord. Fr. Biju and the concelebrants welcomed the brothers with their fraternal embrace and greeted them as a sign to their dedication to the Church and to the congregation as perpetually professed members. The crowd roar into loud applause to congratulate the brothers for this courageous step.
