23 February 2024

Valencia, Spain – February 2024 – The Provincial Community Feast day of the Province of the Mary Help of Christians Province, Spain (SMX) was celebrated during the morning of 17 February at the San Antonio Abad work in Valencia, which this year celebrates 125 years of activity. The event, at which Fr Fernando Miranda, SMX Provincial, presided, is one of the most significant because it celebrates the anniversaries of profession and ordination of the Salesians as well as anniversaries of the works. Fr Jordi Lleixà, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry, in his opening address stressed that "the event also serves to thank that first seed sown, and accompanied for 125 years in Valencia, as well as in other parts of the Provincial territory." The day culminated with a tribute to seventeen Salesians who celebrated 25, 50 and 75 years of priestly ordination or religious profession and to the houses of San Antonio Abad, Ciutadella, Montilla, Rota and Martí-Codolar who celebrated their 125th or 75th anniversary of foundation. After this, the Eucharist was celebrated by Don Miranda, and concelebrated by a large group of Salesians and by the SMX Provincial Council.
