El Salvador - The Ricaldone Technical Institute opens a modern laboratory for renewable energies
San Salvador, El Salvador - June 2025 - The Ricaldone Technical Institute inaugurated a modern renewable energy laboratory on 25 June as part of its commitment to environmental protection. The initiative is part of the clean energy formation courses and various environmental awareness activities promoted by the institute. The ceremony was attended by El Salvador's Minister of Education, José Pineda; the Provincial of the Salesians Central America, Fr Julio Navarro, SDB; authorities from the Ricaldone Institute; members of the Salesian Family; and representatives from the country's education and energy sectors. This educational and ecological project was made possible thanks to funding from the German Agency for Cooperation, Don Bosco Mondo, and the Ricaldone Technical Institute, and strengthened by strategic alliances with the national business and education sectors. Institute Director, Fr Alex Figueroa, SDB, emphasised that the opening of the laboratory represents the institution's commitment to environmental protection. The lab is part of the new three-year degree course in Electrical Systems with a specialisation in Renewable Energy, which will start in 2025. For his part, José Pineda, congratulated the Ricaldone Institute on its innovative initiative and thanked the collaborating partners for their contribution to technical education in the country. Fr Julio Navarro, too, emphasised the Salesian Congregation's educational commitment to environmental promotion: ‘The Salesian educational service is committed to an ecological culture, offering integral formation and working in synergy to build common goals for young Salvadorans’.
