Rwanda - Don Bosco Muhazi celebrates graduation ceremony for young mothers and vulnerable young people
Kigali, Rwanda - June 2025 - Joy, pride and a renewed sense of belonging filled the air at the Don Bosco Muhazi vocational training school, where young mothers and vulnerable youth gathered to receive their certificates from the six-month short course in agriculture supported by the Gender Matters for Green TVET transformative project. The graduation ceremony, held at the school, brought together students and teaching staff, all united by a common belief in the power of second chances and empowerment based on skills. The event represented a historic milestone for many young mothers and disadvantaged youth graduates, particularly those who overcame enormous personal and social challenges to pursue a formation in sustainable agriculture. In his keynote address, Ahobantegeye Theodore, Director of Studies at Don Bosco Muhazi Vocational Training School, congratulated the graduates and applauded their resilience and determination. At the end of the ceremony, the new graduates received, in addition to their certificates, an agricultural starter kit, symbolising not only their success but also a new beginning. Many expressed interest in setting up cooperatives and even starting small agricultural enterprises.
