Rome, Italy – July 2025 - The preparation of the new Ratio is advancing steadily, reflecting a global collaboration among Salesians and laypeople. Initiated by the Rector Major after GC28, the draft was presented to the General Council in January 2025 and to the GC29 assembly. It has now been entrusted to the new Rector Major, Fr Fabio Attard. On 9 June, the General Council approved a structured process to incorporate directives from GC29 into the draft. Two commissions have been set up for this purpose: one from the formation team and another comprising GC29 members who contributed to earlier drafts. The Rector Major Emeritus, Fr Pascual Chavez, has been invited to review the draft, offering insights from his extensive experience. Additionally, every member of the General Council will provide feedback on the text. A final version is expected to be approved by the end of 2025. In 2026, a Congregation-wide effort will focus on integrating the new Ratio into formation programs and mission strategies, underscoring its profound charismatic value as a guiding tool for the Salesian mission.
