Colombia – Book Presentation: "Shrine of Our Lady of Carmel"

Bogotá, Colombia - October 2018 - On October 19, Fr Mario Leonardo Peresson Tonelli, SDB, and architect Rubén Hernández, presented the book "Shrine of Our Lady of Carmel: monument of faith and devotion of the Colombian people". The book narrates the origin and history of the first Carmelite monastery of Santafé of Bogotá from 1606, the beginning of the construction of the Sanctuary in 1923 and its solemn consecration of 1938. It offers an analysis and detailed explanation of its neogothic architecture and the reading of its symbolic catechesis with reference to its fundamental structure and spiritual experience. Finally, it also narrates the restoration process of 1987, as well as the life and work of Salesian brother Juan Buscaglione, who designed the final plans of the Sanctuary.
