Slovenia - Literary Prize for Salesian Cooperator Karmen Jenič

Ljubljana, Slovenia - November 2018 - Last November 25, during the National Book Fair, the largest Slovenian Catholic publishing house, Družina (The Family), awarded its annual "Svetlobnica" prize to the youth novel Orientiraj se po soncu (Oriented towards the Sun), written by Karmen Jenič, Salesian Cooperator. As the author explains, a Slovenian-speaking teacher in a state elementary school, the book tells the story of a boy being teased by his classmates. For the commission that awarded the prize, the novel has a current theme and its strength is to be written from two points of view: the student's who overcomes his traumas, and the teacher's, who helps the young person to relate positively with classmates, teachers and adults.
