Bolivia – Meeting of catechists of Salesian missionary works
Cochabamba, Bolivia - October 2019 - About 50 lay people and several religious attended the meeting of the catechists of Salesian missionary works in rural areas with the aim of sharing their experiences of pastoral service in the light of the Rector Major's 2019 Strenna. The central theme that guided the meeting was: "The sanctity of the catechist in current times". Each community was able to share their pastoral mission experiences. There was also time for animation, music, dancing and good cheer. The Salesian missionary communities are distant from Bolivia's most populated centers and all maintain their cultural characteristics, which they have been able to merge with the Catholic faith. "Without lay people, religious men and women engaged in catechesis, it would be very difficult to carry out the mission entrusted to us by the Church and by the Salesian Congregation," said Fr Sabino Mendoza, Delegate for Missionary Animation of the Province of Bolivia (BOL).
