Cochabamba, Bolivia - November 2025 - On 20 and 21 November, the Salesian Provincial Headquarters in Bolivia hosted a meeting of the Provincial Youth Ministry Team, bringing together the Coordinators and Leaders of eight of the twelve commissions. Araçatuba, Brazil - December 2025 - The Salesian UniSALESIANO University in Araçatuba hosted the presentation of the new biographical volume on Bishop Luigi Lasagna, written by Fr Gildasio Mendes, former General Councillor for Social Communication. The book, entitled ‘O Realizador de Sonhos - dom Luís Lasagna - Uma Biografia Nova’ (The Dream Maker - Dom Luís Lasagna - A New Biography), recounts the life of Bishop Lasagna, described as a true leader who knew how to win everyone over through love, a smile and a welcoming character. In the biography, Fr Gildasio Mendes reread historical episodes and explained how Bishop Lasagna, who had studied Pope Leo XIII's Encyclical “Rerum Novarum”, applied its principles to educational projects, which made him a visionary in the formation of “good Christians and upright citizens”. The event, full of emotions, memories and deep Salesian spirit, celebrated the 130th anniversary of Bishop Lasagna's death and presented to the public a vibrant work, the result of intense research, tracing the trajectory of one of the great pioneers of the Salesian mission in South America. Present at the table of honour, alongside the author, were religious, academic and civil authorities, including the Rector of the UniSALESIANO, Fr Paulo Vendrame, and the Deputy Mayor of Araçatuba, Maria Ionice Zucon.
Liverpool, Great Britain - December 2025 - Last month, students from Croxteth's St John Bosco Arts College proudly represented their school at the COP30 mock conference, where they gave a presentation to the audience, before collectively delving into the urgent climate crisis. The students gathered at the St Margaret Clitherow Centre in Liverpool, taking part in a series of activities that encouraged critical thinking about climate action. Designed to mirror the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which took place in Brazil from 10-21 November, the COP30 mock conference brought together young people from schools across the Archdiocese to deepen their understanding of environmental protection. As explained by the Salesian school students, the event allowed them to overcome their anxieties and learn a lot about climate change. The young people were also able to participate in a series of workshops, including one on climate justice and one on biodiversity. The school's Principal, Darren Gidman, said that this conference 2allowed our students to go beyond the classroom, confront real-world issues and feel empowered to use their voices to influence positive change.”
