Liubljana, Slovenia - July 2016 - Since 1991, the year of independence of Slovenia, it has been possible for the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians to organize youth programmes in the Don Bosco style. One of the most successful programmes is the summer oratory. Over the years the oratory movement has grown significantly, both in the Salesian context and in diocesan parishes. This summer, there were more than 280 oratories in Slovenia catering for around 20,000 primary school children with 6,000 young leaders. The oratories follow a common manual which contains the entire programme and the necessary ideas, including the main story that inspires the activities. This year it is the story of Pinocchio. The aim of the oratory is to offer children and young people an experience of the Preventive System of Don Bosco.
