Kenya – september 2020 - On 24th September, 2020, Israel Ambassador to Kenya H.E Oded Joseph paid a courtesy visit to Don Bosco Makuyu Technical Institute and Don Bosco Technical Institute Embu. Accompanied by Ms. Nermine - Founder & CEO of Water 4 Mercy, they were impressed with the projects being undertaken by the institutions. Among the People present during this high-profile visit were; Fr. Simon Asira (Provincial), Fr. Eric Mairura, Fr. Frederick Swai, Br. John Njuguna, Mr. Sam Ebale , Fr. Isaac Maina, and Ms. Nancy Ndung’u. Br. John Njuguna, Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) Deputy Director expounded to the guests how DBTA is empowering the youth in Africa for socio-economic transformation. He noted that Agriculture in Africa has a massive social and economic footprint. According to McKinsey & Company (2019), more than 60 percent of the population of sub-Saharan Africa is smallholder farmers, and about 23 percent of sub-Saharan Africa's GDP comes from agriculture. Yet, Africa's full agricultural potential remains untapped. DBTA conducted a Labor Market Survey Report 2018-2019 whose findings revealed that 90% of Don Bosco TVET graduates are formally employed or self-employed in professional and soft Skills. However, working conditions are not at its best. The survey further revealed that areas creating employment, boosting the economies and expected future demand include Agriculture, Hotel, Tourism & Catering, Green Jobs and ICT. It is in this light that DBTA is seeking to partner with Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MASHAV) to inject Israeli technical solutions within the Don Bosco centers in the continent in order to further cooperation and development in Africa through the young people.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras - September 2020 - Thanks to the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the FUNADEH-GENESIS project, the "Center for Digital Education and Innovation - CEDI San Juan Bosco" was created, a new formative environment in the Vocational Training Center, which aims to develop innovation and creativity of the young beneficiaries of the programs served by the Salesian house. The CEDI has individual areas for the use of technologies, a "coworking room" with interactive tablets and access to a self-learning platform, as well as a meeting room. All this environment will offer connectivity with the world of learning, promoting collaborative work and generating skills that facilitate youth employment.

Johannesburg, South Africa - September 2020 - The Covid-19 pandemic has caused more than one million deaths worldwide and has generated an unprecedented health, economic and social crisis. Young people have been affected in various ways: spiritually, psychologically and emotionally. It is for these reasons that the Salesians of Johannesburg, Fr Lingoane Tlaile, the cleric Nhlanhla Nxumalo and the Salesian Brother Clarence Watts, collaborated with the Comboni priest Fr Kiffle, in an accompaniment program for young people carried out from 25 to 27 September at the "Bosco Youth Center". The goal was to accompany a group of young people in dealing with the effects of Covid-19, also to understand how to face the challenges of this pandemic, through reflections on various issues and questions, moments of prayer, play and sharing.

Spain - October 2020 - Between March and September, the "Fundación Don Bosco", through the project "Educational accompaniment for young people", accompanied 163 young foreigners, between 18 and 21 years old, located in eight locations in Andalusia and the Canary Islands, living in the streets and without economic resources. They are boys and girls who come mainly from the Service for the Protection of Minors, who reside in centers for minors, hostels, or shared apartments. This situation prevents them from generating the necessary conditions for personal development, emancipation and autonomy. The "Fundación Don Bosco", in line with the Rector Major's Strenna 2021 "Moved by hope: 'See, I am making all things new' (Rev 21:5)", reaffirms its commitment to these young people who are, without doubt, one of Don Bosco's chosen. The project is being developed with funds from the “Fundación Don Bosco” in collaboration with the Salesian Family, “Misiones Salesianas”, and the support of the Council of Andalusia, the Municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the “Fundación el Palmar”.
