Palabek, Uganda - 8 September 2020 - Despite the lack of electricity and the Covid-19 pandemic, the Salesian house located inside the Palabek refugee camp, through its animators, manages to promote literacy among the residents in the camp. Furthermore, the animators donate food to the children thanks to the support of “Don Bosco Ireland” and “Misean CARA”. With their bicycles, they reach every corner of the refugee camp.
Madrid, Spain - September 2020 - On 11 September, in the parish of "San Francesco de Sales", Fr Fernando García, Superior of the Madrid Province (SSM), presided over the celebration during which Chema García and Luis Valverde made their first religious professions as Salesians of Don Bosco.
Tlaquepaque, Mexico - September 2020 - On 13 September in the "Cristo Resuscito" church of the Salesian house in Tlaquepaque, Msgr. Héctor Guerrero, SDB, Bishop Emeritus of Mixes, presided over the diaconal ordinations of four Salesians: Harry Icaza, from the Ecuador Province; Pablo Ángel de la Cruz and Pedro Jesús Vergara, from the Province of Mexico City; and Hugo Medrano, from the Mexico-Guadalajara Province.
Lagos, Nigeria - September 2020 - The Salesians of Don Bosco are engaged in Nigeria in the work of contrasting the Covid-19 pandemic. In the state of Lagos, in collaboration with the "Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus", with the support of the Italian Episcopal Conference through the International Voluntary Service for Development (VIS), the Salesians are conducting an awareness-raising program on the risks of contagion and education on the correct use of protection devices. In the meantime, the “Don Bosco Center” of Ondo is preparing for the reopening of the Vocational Training Center and the Youth Center with new rules for access to facilities, hand washing and distribution of masks.
