Lubumbashi, DR Congo - 9 August 2020 - Last Sunday, at the Theologate "Saint François de Sales" in Lubumbashi, 10 Salesians from different Provinces and Vice Provinces - Africa Congo Congo (ACC), Africa Great Lakes (AGL), Madagascar (MDG) and Central Africa (AFC) - made their perpetual vows. The Mass was presided over by Fr Albert Kabuge, AFC Provincial, who recalled the significance of perpetual profession in the life of religious, missionaries of the young, as a commitment to be good shepherds for the good of the Church and the Congregation.
Yaoundé, Cameroon - 2 August 2020 - At 10:00 am on Sunday 2 August, four Salesians from the "Our Lady of Peace" Province of French-speaking West Africa, students at the Yaoundé Theologate, were ordained deacons by Msgr. Sosthène Léopold Bayemi Matjei, bishop of Obala, in Cameroon. During the same celebration, five Salesians from the same Vice Province made their perpetual vows.
Bonn, Germany - August 2020 - After the visit to Warsaw, Fr Alfred Maravilla, General Councilor for the Missions, accompanied by Fr George Menamparampil, Coordinator of the Salesian Mission Offices, continued his tour of the Mission Offices by going to Bonn, where he spent the days from 5 to 8 August. It was an opportunity to get to know the "Don Bosco Mission" Mission Offices more closely and to meet the Procurator, Fr Josef Grünner, the Director and the staff at the office. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the meeting with all lay staff was carried out online.
Campo Grande, Brazil - 6 August 2020 - The Salesian Community of the "São Vicente" Institute of Campo Grande hosted a meeting of the Provincials whose post-novices are welcomed at that Institute to evaluate the formative path offered. Fr Ricardo Carlos, Fr Jefferson Luis Santos and Fr Natali Vitali, respectively Superiors of the Brazilian Provinces of Brazil-Campo Grande (BCG), Manaus (BMA) and Belo Horizonte (BBH) took part in this meeting, called the Curatorium. Fr Nivaldo Pessinatti, Superior of the Province of Brazil-Recife (BRE), participated remotely, as did Fr Gabriel Romero, Councilor for the America-South Cone Region, who chaired the meeting.
