Asunción, Paraguay - May 2020 - "Entre la Selva y el Vaticano, Amid the Forest and the Vatican" is the title of the first novel written by Salesian Fr José Zanardini, an established anthropologist, theologian and sociologist specialized in cultures originating in Paraguay. The story takes place in Paraguay, a multicultural and multiethnic country, which nobody can tell it better than the character Raúl, a priest, who tries to be a neutral witness of the events that take place in this land so different from his own, Canada. Fr Zanardini knows the indigenous people of Chaco well and the problems they face in their coexistence with the Paraguayans. The same happens with the Vatican and the effort of the last popes to change an institution immobilized in its centenary traditions. "Entre la Selva y el Vaticano" is an agile, moving novel about a priest, his dilemmas, his faith and his search for solidarity, explains the author.
