Hyderabad, India - April 2020 - On April 24, the 28th anniversary of the existence of the Salesian Province "Saint Joseph" of India-Hyderabad (INH) was celebrated with a Eucharist presided by the Provincial, Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar.

São Paulo, Brazil - April 2020 - The "Dom Bosco Bom Retiro" Salesian Institute in São Paulo has collected basic hygiene kits and baskets of food to help some families from the Center for Social and Productive Development and the Center for Children and Adolescents "Vida Melhor" program. Through the authorization of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance and Development, the Salesian Institute, in collaboration with the "Salvador Arena" Foundation, offered over 200 baskets of basic food and over 188 hygiene kits in April; it also distributed traditional Easter eggs to children. The "Dom Bosco Bom Retiro" Institute is looking for more supplies of basic necessities as over 1,500 families, facing a crisis by social isolation, are being assisted every day.

Kazincbarcika, Hungary - April 2020 - "Don Bosco Barcika Tanoda", the study center for Roma people, located in Kazincbarcika, belonging to the Salesian Province of Hungary (UNG), has changed its goal by going beyond education and taking care of families and children most in need, especially now, during the coronavirus pandemic. Mariann Molnár, Coordinator of the Study Center, noted that in addition to keeping in touch with poor children and their families, enormous efforts have been made to provide them with online education, basic necessities and disinfectants. With the support of the Greek Catholic parish community, the Study Center seeks to help the Roma by offering bread, snacks, vegetables, fruit and eggs once or twice a week.

Ifako-Ijaiye, Nigeria - April 2020 - After the first death caused by COVID-19 in Lagos on February 24, and given the growing number of people affected, lockdown has been imposed in many states of Nigeria. The blockade of activities, not accompanied by government aid, has had negative effects on the citizens, as needy families suffer from hunger and looting is a daily occurrence. The Salesian community "Mary Help of Christians" in Iju Ishaga, a suburb of Ifako-Ijaiye, in addition to respecting and promoting preventive measures, distributed basic necessities to needy families. The donation was made possible thanks to the support of "Misiones Salesianas", the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid.
