Belgium – Salesian Organizations offering Good Evening Words against fear and loneliness

27 March 2020

(ANS - Oud-Heverlee) – In this time of a worldwide emergency related to a Virus that is making the world slow down a bit, but also provokes loneliness and sadness, Don Bosco Youth-Net ivzw, the European network of Salesian youth organisations, together with other European Salesian organizations, invite us to not lose our hope and faith. “Did you know that in the Bible, there is written ‘do not fear’ for 365 times?” the DBYN explain.

For this reason, the European network of Salesian youth organisations, partnered with “Jeugddienst Don Bosco - Flanders” and “Mouvement Salésien des Jeunes France/Belgique-Sud” in France and Wallonia, to offer a Good Evening Word each day at 19:00 CET on Facebook.

Published on the organisations’ respective Facebook pages, the Good Evening is the same one translated in the language of the organisation. It is written by young people and members of the Salesian Family and aims to bring comfort and hope during these times where most countries are facing lockdown or at least social distancing.

“Everyone is welcome to participate and to send us a Good Evening Word as Mamma Margherita and Don Bosco once did. We will then translate and publish them in order to bring a wave of hope. If your organization, school, parish or community would like to participate as well and provide the same Good Evening, we would be very happy. This first “Good evening” was written by Stefano, DBYN trainer and member of Movimento Giovanile Salesiano in Italy.

This is not the only way in which DBYN and the Salesians of Belgium are working to to bring joy in this time of isolation, loneliness and suffering for many. Always at Oud-Heverlee, children are creating drawings and notes for the elderly who are shut-in and isolated because of the virus.
