In his letter, the World Coordinator of the SSCC indicates how many of the challenges of this emergency era refer to the commitments made at the 2018 Rome Congress.
“We pay attention to families, starting from ours…; we take care of elderly and sick persons, making our presence feel in the ways that everyone can do. We pay attention to the young people who feel disoriented in these moments." For them, in particular, it is a matter of instilling hope, truly testifying to the belief that "everything will be fine."
Without forgetting the care given to the Salesian Cooperators of their own centers and to the other members of the Salesian Family, the closeness to those who have suffered mourning because of this pandemic ...
Also in this phase, Salesian creativity must give rise to answers and the current means of communication offer yet other resources. The time in one's own home is an appropriate "time given to pray, to do the formation, to keep relationships alive, even if only by telephone," and also serves to testify, in compliance with the rules imposed, the desire to be "Good Christians and Upright Citizens."
Looking at the imminent Easter, Mr. Boccia concludes: "… the hope that we will be able to give in these moments are based on the certainty that the Lord does not abandon us.... He who passed through the cross on Good Friday continues to tell us that after it there is the Resurrection Sunday."
