(ANS - Rome) - At the end of the International Meeting of the Directors of the Salesian Bulletin in 2012 every Salesian Bulletin Director agreed to monitor closely events and issues involving the Church and, specifically, the Congregation in the years ahead (New Evangelization , Bicentenary, GC27, etc.) and to work towards shared  activities and joint projects, such as the digital Bulletin, the editorial of the Rector Major adapted to its readers, the synergies between editions, and awareness among the Salesians and Salesian Family. Now, four years later, at another meeting in Rome from 19 to 22 May they will evaluate what has been done and plan ahead.

The International Meeting of Directors of the Salesian Bulletin begins today, 19 May, at the Salesianum in Rome. The participants will be 43 directors and contributors of the various national and language editions, in what can now be considered a fixture that takes place every few years. It serves to facilitate a systematic and integrated vision of this important information and formation service, although necessarily differentiated according to the different contexts of action.

Proceedings will commence in the afternoon with an introduction by Fr Bruno Ferrero, Director of the Italian Salesian Bulletin, on the Identity of the Salesian Bulletin.

On Friday 20 the Councillor General for Social Communication, Fr Filiberto González will give a talk which will serve as a starting point for the work of the meeting. He will speak on "The Salesian Bulletin - Institutional Magazine". In the afternoon, all participants will have the opportunity to visit the offices of one of the best-selling Italian daily newspapers "La Repubblica", and the Catacombs of San Callistus.

On Saturday, Fr Heriberto Herrera of the Salesian Bulletin of Central America will present some good practices of that publication. Throughout the day there will be further debates and discussions in different language groups.

The event ends on Sunday 22. The morning Eucharist will be presided over by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Francesco Cereda.  There will then be the presentation of what developed in individual groups and sharing of conclusions and the final agreements.
