India – “An Affable Pastor”, a book on late Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB, has been released

(ANS – Shillong) – A commemorative volume of edited works on the life of Late Archbishop Dominic Jala was released the 3rd September by Father Paul Olphindro Lyngkot SDB, Salesian Provincial, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Mawlai.

The short function began with a prayer led by Father John Zosiama, the INS Vice Provincial. Later a short description about the book entitled “An Affable Pastor” was given by Brother MA Abraham who coedited the work with Father Jose Varickasseril. Brother Abraham stated that the sole intention of publishing this book was to keep alive the memory of Late Archbishop Jala who was a very versatile person and a pastor who was very human, and who died prematurely in a car accident last 10 October 2019 near Wilbur Springs, in Colusa County, California, United States.

The volume is composed of a wide range of articles comprising of Theological, Philosophical, Biblical, Canonical, Kerygmatic, Catechetical, Liturgical themes etc.

The In Memoriam section contains inspiring impressions about the Late Archbishop.

Father Lyngkot commended the work of the two editors and called the book a “very special book”. He said that the book opened the door for all those who knew Late Archbishop Dominic Jala to reflect more deeply about his life. He also recalled that the book got its name from the affability of the father of Late Archbishop Jala which the son assuredly imbibed.
