RMG - Friendship and industriousness: "places of hope" explained by Fr Guillermo Basañes

10 November 2020

(ANS - Rome) - "Hope" is a word that, in difficult times like the ones we are experiencing, takes on an even greater value. Never as much as the present, we all need to "hope". And it is around this word, in fact, that the message of Fr Guillermo Basañes, addressed to the whole Congregation, revolves.

His reflection on hope is inspired on the one hand by the "Post-Chapter Reflections" delivered by the Rector Major to guide the Congregation in the next six years, and on the other by the Encyclical of Pope Benedict XVI Spe Salvi who, also through the history of Saint Josephine Bakhita, offers a great testimony of how to live hope.

Don Bosco himself, several times, invites us to exercise Christian hope. “I dwelt on two places, very much ours, very Salesian,” Fr Basañes explains, “where I believe we are called to live hope: one is friendship and the other is industriousness.”
