Spain - "A Mass with joy": album by Salesian Carlos Martinez Voces

23 December 2020

(ANS - Madrid) - The composer Fr Carlos Martinez Voces, a Salesian, this week released a musical album entitled “Con Alegria Missa”, A Mass with Joy. It is a collection of 15 pieces of various genres, specially composed for Eucharistic celebrations. From rock to pop, passing through rap and blues, the album was born from the profound joy of believing in God. A loving God who wants to reach everyone.

As for the title, the author underlines the desire to express genuine joy: “Everything I do, everything I sing, is based on the joy of living and giving thanks because we are alive,” he explained. “I wanted to hook myself to the tradition of our songs, respecting the texts and remembering that these are prayers of praise,” added Fr Carlos Martinez Voces.

The composer then stated that with this album he wants to reach young people and their communities. Encouraging him in this new work was the convocation by Pope Francis of the Synod on young people. As Fr Carlos Martinez acknowledges: “it was a really long process”, but in all this journey for the composer his priority has always been clear: to spotlight young people.

In fact, throughout his career, the composer has always shown a marked sensitivity towards the world of youth and has made music an indispensable tool for communicating with young people. In his work as a teacher, music has always helped him to get closer to the young, facilitating personal encounters and the development of creative skills.

His activity as a musician began in 1989, with the composition "Juan Soñador", which was followed by other albums, such as "Esperanza", "Y prepararon la Pascua", "El arco de colores". His new album, “Con Alegria Missa”, has its own web page, where lyrics and scores can be downloaded. It can also be listened to on various platforms, such as Spotify, YouTube, Deezer and Google Play and purchased on Amazon or on the online store www.encristiano.com.
