Even at first glance as you enter this house one recognizes its Salesian character: young people are everywhere, in the courtyard, in the classrooms, in the corridors, in the parish, always in the company of educators, in a climate of mutual respect and appreciation, which makes them feel themselves immersed in a family environment.
Formal education is one of the pillars of this house. In its classrooms children, adolescents, young and adults are formed through quality pedagogical proposals adapted to each group: initial, primary, secondary, secondary school for adults, vocational training.
The educational work at "St Antonio" is completed by spaces for youth and non-formal education, including a social circus, school reinforcement activities, and an oratory.
This Salesian house holds its doors always open to the community, fully making its Salesian option available to the most vulnerable. Many of the young people who animate the work come from middle-class or impoverished families, survive via informal, short-term jobs or are exposed to unemployment, without access to quality education, without adequate housing, at risk of violence and dependence on substances.
But this Salesian house works with a preventive approach and focuses much on the care of young people and the place where they live. For this reason, one of the goals of the house is to consolidate an ecological and attentive perspective towards the environment, which remains transversal to all proposals.
The path in this sense includes interventions, workshops and curricular contents on the theme, as well as putting into practice the knowledge with the creation of "green islands" in different parts of the establishment, where small plants have been planted. The house aims to consolidate itself as a Community reference model for the entire area. Among other things, the electrical wiring has been remodeled to make it safer and more efficient, and solar panels have also been installed in some classrooms.
At the Salesian house St Antonio da Padova the horizon is a better future, healthier, safer. For young people and the world in which they live and grow.
