30 March 2021

(ANS - Lubumbashi) - On Saturday 20 March, the day after his inauguration as Provincial of the Central Africa Province (AFC), Fr Guillermo Basañes led a Curatorium at the "St. Francis de Sales" Theological Studentate to review the resolutions adopted last year and give indications for this year to guarantee quality formation to the religious in initial formation. In addition to Fr Basañes, Fr Manolo Jiménez, Provincial of the Vice Province of Africa Congo Congo (ACC), Fr Innocent Bizimana, Provincial of Madagascar (MDG), and Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Regional Councilor for Africa-Madagascar, were also present.

In the afternoon the team continued their pilgrimage to the Kafubu valley for a second Curatorium, this time at the "St John Bosco" Institute, where 73 young Salesians study philosophy. After the presentation of the reports planned for the meeting, respectively on community life, academic activities and the functioning of the bursar's office, the members of the Curatorium took the opportunity of Vespers to greet the large formation community of Kansebula, where the elderly Salesians of the Province also live. It was a good opportunity for the new Provincial and for the Regional to thank the formation team for the work of accompanying the young people in formation.

In all the appointments the Provincials conveyed the concern of the Rector Major for the care of vocations in AFC, and their importance for the mission, not only in Africa and Madagascar, but for the whole Congregation and the whole Church.
