India – Bangalore Province and NGO BREADS at forefront of relief efforts for victims of pandemic

(ANS - Bangalore) - The NGO "BREADS", the Planning and Development Office of the India-Bangalore Province (INK), has recently released a list of the services offered in the fight against Covid-19 and its consequences from 10 Salesian institutions and from their own headquarters in the two Indian states in which the Province extends - Kerala and Karnataka.

  • Don Bosco Chitradurga distributed 40 ration kits to the Covid-affected families.
  • The Don Bosco Youth Forum in Kollam started the blood donation drive in collaboration with the district hospital for the Fishermen Community; while the Don Bosco TEAM COVID continues to reach out to the Covid-infected and -affected families with vaccine registration, door delivery of essentials, medicines, mid-day meals and ambulance service.
  • Don Bosco Hospet provided Covid-19 awareness and masks and grocery kits distribution.
  • Don Bosco College Mannuthy distributed 40 ration kits to the Covid-affected migrants.
  • Don Bosco Sachivothamapuram distributed 90 ration kits to the Covid-affected families.
  • KISMAT continues to render its services to the interstate migrants in Kerala state with: distribution of ration kits, counselling, travel arrangements, unpaid wage settlements, hospital assistance, RTPCR test assistance, Covid-19 awareness, registration for vaccination, job placement, shelter and educational support for students.
  • Don Bosco Veedu Trivandrum distributed 200 Covid-19 Preventive Medical Kits to tuition students and poor families and distributed 850 food kits.
  • Don Bosco Hassan in association with BREADS, reached out to Holy Cross Hospital, Chikmagalur, Karnataka with essential medical help; medicines and dry rations were provided to 75 Covid-19-positive patients, along with 100 face masks, 20 litres of sanitizer, 1000 hand gloves, 50 PPE kits, 4 oxymeters, 4 thermometers, 200 face shields, and 30 inhalers.
  • Don Bosco Yadgir with the support of BREADS Bangalore reached out with essential help to the people struggling without basic requirements. The supply of ration kits and medicines reached 227 families.
  • Don Bosco Pyar Kalaburagi in association with BREADS and Solarpack distributed 100 ration kits.
  • Starting from its Headquarter, BREADS along with its partners in CORONA CARE Bengaluru, continues its programmes: deliver cooked meals - lunch and dinner - for free, with an average of 230 beneficiaries daily, ration kits and medical help distribution, financial assistance to the Covid-19 patients and the opening of a new Covid-19 Care Center in Bangalore city, this past 20 May.
