Thus, the Diocesan Process in the Archdiocese of Lima began on Monday 27 September 2021.

The ceremony, with a small number of participants due to the pandemic, was attended by: Fr Mauel Cayo, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Peru, Fr Hugo Orozco, Regional Councilor for Interamerica, Fr Francisco Sánchez, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Ecuador, Rt. Rev. Jesús María Aristín, Bishop of Yurimaguas, and Fr Jesús Jurado, Vice Postulator. Other guests included: the Archbishop of Lima, Rt. Rev. Carlos Gustavo Castillo Mattasoglio, who presented the Episcopal Delegate, Fr Sandro Carbone, the Procurator of Justice, Fr Edwin Limas, and the Notary, Fr Manuel Zegarra, with the aim of starting the Diocesan Process.

At the end of the ceremony, Fr Hugo Orozco thanked the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, for the beginning of the process. For his part, the Archbishop of Lima presented the figure of the Servant of God Luigi Bolla, describing him as a "man who knew how to mediate and educate people in love and forgiveness. And thanks to Father Bolla, violence between a very fraternal people was avoided on many occasions."

In the evening, starting at 19.30, Rt. Rev. Martín Quijano, SDB, Bishop of Pucallpa, presided over the Holy Mass together with Rt. Rev Jesús María Aristín, Bishop of Yurimaguas, presenting the figure of this great missionary "who knew how to lead his people on paths of love and forgiveness." He recalled that the name by which his people called him, Yánkuam 'Jintia, was given precisely at the moment when Fr Bolla was the true star that illuminated the path of this people.

During the celebration, a letter was also read from Fr Igino Biffi, Provincial of the Salesian Province of North-East Italy: “It is here in Schio that the vocation of one of the most brilliant and well-known Salesian missionaries was born, Fr Luigi Bolla,” the letter reads. “We pray he gives rise to many Salesian vocations passionate for Christ and dedicated to the Gospel and to young people, following the example of Don Bosco.”
