In this 4th session the theme was: "The Oratory, a human response to a divine vocation". It was led by Fr Fabio Attard, former General Councillor for Youth Ministry and current Coordinator of the Project for Ongoing Formation for Salesians and Laity in Europe.
Fr Attard divided the theme into three main points: the first was an introduction to remind the participants to see Don Bosco's life as the place where the spirit of God speaks. “There is no experience of the Preventive System if there is no true community. And there is no real community that educates with the heart of the Good Shepherd, if it does not allow itself to be guided by the Salesian charism.”
In the second point, Fr Attard elaborated on the affirmation that the "Preventive System is a spiritual and educational experience", seeing the oratory, not as an invention, but as a response to the call that God makes to some for opening a path in favor, and on behalf, of others. “The Preventive System is a call from God to Don Bosco and places the person at the center of his attention.”
In conclusion, he deepened the threefold dynamic reality of the Preventive System as a force that guides pastoral care, as a spiritual proposal and as a practical pedagogical method. He also stressed that Salesian youth spirituality is inspired by this System, where time and daily life are a space of joy to meet Jesus. “Let us help young people form themselves and to live the experience of the Salesian spirit together with others: the experience of the group, which is the experience of solidarity, of citizenship."
After Fr Attard's speech, the participants gathered in groups to share and deepen what they had learned, concluding with short presentations of what they had worked on.
It is important to remember that the School of Salesianity, since 2018, has been trying to promote formation in Salesianity in the Pastoral Educational Communities (CEP) for a greater significance of the educative-pastoral presence in Salesian environments.
