Italy – Prof. Michal Vojtáš, SDB, is the new Vice Rector of the Salesian Pontifical University

(ANS - Rome) - On Thursday 7 October 2021 the Grand Chancellor of the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS), the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, appointed prof. Fr Michal Vojtáš Vice Rector of UPS for the next three years. Promotion of scientific research and synergy between the various entities of the UPS will be among his priority commitments.

Thanking him for the trust, Fr Vojtáš undertakes to "carry out the task in close collaboration with the Rector, in synergy with the various entities of the University and of the Salesian Congregation, promoting scientific research, accompanying the staff and students and facilitating strategic processes."

Born in Kosice, Slovakia, on 16 April 1977, and a Salesian since 1997, Prof. Vojtáš is an expert in the area of ​​planning and educational leadership. He received his doctorate from the Faculty of Education Sciences of the UPS with a thesis entitled "Planning and discerning: Salesian educational-pastoral planning between history, theories and innovative proposals" (LAS, Rome, 2015).

He is currently the Director of the Don Bosco Study Center and lecturer in the Chair of Salesian History and Pedagogy of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. He has developed collaborations with the Salesian Headquarters, the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS) and various Salesian institutions on a continental, national and local levels.

He is the author of several publications, including: "Salesian pedagogy after Don Bosco" and "Reviving Don Bosco's Oratory: Salesian Youth Ministry, Leadership and Innovative Project Management", and edited the Proceedings of the International Congress "Youth and life choices: Educational Perspectives".

He is an editorial board member of the journals “Journal of Salesian Studies”, “Orientamenti Pedagogici - Pedagogical Orientations” and “Note di Pastorale Giovanile - Notes of Youth Ministry”.
