The reason for the choice is linked to the first theme of the Program of the Rector Major at the end of the GC28, the fundamental and most important one, in which Fr Ángel Fernández Artime emphasizes the need for every Salesian to grow in the charismatic identity: “The future of consecrated life of the Salesians, has its raison d'etre in its foundation, which is Jesus Christ. (...) And the vocational challenge is always to return to Jesus, renouncing everything that is not Him or that which distances us from Him. (...) without Jesus Christ at the center of our thinking, feeling, living, dreaming, working ..., there is no future, and we cannot offer anything significant.”
The choice of the images represented in the poster for the event is meaningful - taken from a painting that is located right under the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin - which shows the image of Don Bosco and Saint Francis de Sales with the cross behind them on which the motto "Da mihi animas, cetera tolle" is inscribed. The poster wishes to indicate the center of the Salesian charismatic identity through the two characters of Don Bosco and St. Francis de Sales, the cross and the Eucharist - placed in the poster.
The online training course proposed to all Salesian communities in Italy thus aims to take up the central aspects of Salesian life by discussing them, through a dialogue with some prominent experts and giving the possibility to interact with questions addressed to the speakers.
One Saturday a month, always from 9 to 10:15 (Italian time), the schedule aims to focus on the following topics:
- 13 November - The Grace of Unity in the Life of a Salesian (Fr Pascual Chávez);
- 11 December - The identity of the Salesian today (Fr Ángel Fernandez Artime);
- 22 January - St. Francis de Sales and the Eucharist in Christian life (Fr Morand Wirth);
- 19 February - Consecrated life and secular life: in search of Unity beyond Divisions (Bro. Paolo Zini);
- 12 March - Salesian Holiness, a strong call to Mystical Life (Lodovica Zanet and Fr Pier Luigi Cameroni);
- 23 April - Bearing fruit in the Salesian Mission: "Abide in me and I in you" in the Gospel of John and in the experience of Servant of God Vera Grita (Fr Juan José Bartolomè and Maria Rita Scrimieri).
