Then, having arrived in the Kafubu valley, Fr Martoglio first paid homage to the deceased Salesians at the Kafubu cemetery. Together with the Superior of the Central African Province (AFC), Fr Guillermo Basañes, and the Provincial Vicar, Fr Tryphon Kalimira, he remembered Br Pierre Libayi and Fr Thomas Muzinga, who died on October 24 and 9 November 2021 respectively, in his prayers.
Later, Fr Martoglio reached the episcopate of Sakania-Kipushi, where he was warmly welcomed by the local ordinary, the Salesian Bishop Most Rev. Gaston Ruvezi, in the presence of other priests of the diocese. The meeting was marked by sentiments of gratitude and sincere affection, for the presence and the efforts of the Salesian Congregation in the diocese, especially in the fields of education, health and the formation of priests and catechists.
Passing through the Kafubu Valley, the Vicar of the Rector Major stopped at the community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Kwesu. The nuns gave a festive welcome to Fr Martoglio with songs and tributes from the school’s novices and pupils. For her part, the Mother Superior of the community asked of Fr Martoglio only prayers, for the future of the Democratic Republic of Congo, that it be accompanied by the protection of Mary Help of Christians.
And an atmosphere of joy and festive songs greeted the Vicar of the Rector Major at the "St John Bosco" Studentate of Philosophy in Kansebula. After the welcome speech offered by the Dean, Fr Dieudonné Besa, Fr Martoglio conveyed the greetings and affection of the Rector Major to all present, and took the time to get to know, greet personally each of the young Salesians present. The day ended with a moment of fraternity with the whole community.
