Spain – First Initial Formation Meeting for Animative Guides of the "Valdocco Communities"

18 November 2021

(ANS - Madrid) - Last weekend, on 13 and 14 November 2021, in the Salesian Provincial House of Madrid, the First Initial Formation Meeting for the animators of the "Valdocco Communities" took place.

“Valdocco Community” is the term that sums up the Salesian project for young adults and adults who go to Salesian houses. In many places, before the creation of this project, there were numerous communities, reference groups, groups of adults, etc., who worked without a common project. Considering the consistency and importance of these realities, which are currently about 70 throughout Spain, the Provincial Pastoral Delegates have seen the need to offer something concrete, not only to this existing reality, but also to those people who wanted to live their faith as a community.

For this reason, the National Salesian Center for Youth Ministry (CNSPJ, in Spanish) and the Provinces have promoted the project "Valdocco Communities", the initial basis of which can be referred to here.

And since in the project the CNSPJ has the task of promoting the formation of those who accompany these communities, and of accompanying and encouraging the provincial processes, it was precisely this body that promoted the meeting held last weekend.

This meeting was attended by 30 animators from the Valdocco Communities, catechumenate groups and several people who want to promote this project in their local realities, coming from both of the country’s Salesian Provinces, "Spain-St James the Greater" (SSM) and "Spain - Mary Help of Christians" (SMX).

Marked by moments of sharing and celebration, the meeting was structured in three fundamental moments:

- Saturday morning: “The young man in that vital moment”, animated by the Community “Bread, Work and Paradise” of Madrid-Atocha;

- Saturday afternoon: "The figure of the community guide", animated by the "Salt and Light" Community of Madrid-Estrecho;

- Sunday morning: “The community; Profile and methodology”, led by Pep Alamán and Jaume Bernadet, from Barcelona.

Some material of the meeting can be consulted here.
