Peru – End of the Extraordinary Visit of the Inter-America Region Councilor

01 December 2021

(ANS - Lima) - After more than 90 days of animation and presence among the Salesian Houses of Peru, the "Santa Rosa de Lima" Province greeted Fr Hugo Orozco, Regional Councilor for Inter-America, with affection for his service. Representing the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Fr Orozco conducted the Extraordinary Visitation to the PER Province for over three months and was able to truly motivate and revive the journey and mission of the Salesians in the society.

“I am very grateful to all my confreres, to Fr Manolo Cayo, the Provincial and to all the members of the Salesian Family who have been very caring. In every house I was welcomed with great affection. I rely on your prayers. I ask Mary Help of Christians to help us, to accompany us, to teach us to trust, to thank, to praise and to commit our lives for the salvation of young people,” said Fr Orozco at the closing Mass of the Visit, celebrated in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Lima, in the presence of over 50 Salesians and various members of the Salesian Family.

Before the end of the celebration, the Provincial also took the opportunity to express sentiments of thanks to Fr Orozco for the time he spent getting to know the Salesian Family in Peru.

“Today it is my turn to be the spokesperson of all my brother Salesians, and for all the people who have enjoyed these days of visits. Dear Father Hugo, you arrived three months ago, sent by Fr Ángel Fernández to gift us this visit in his name, encouraging, accompanying and spurring us on the paths of fidelity to Jesus in the footsteps of the Salesian charism,” he said, summarizing in a few sentences the synthesis of all these days spent together.

With these wise and warm words, the celebration ended, with an applause and joy in the hearts of everyone present. “Thanks for your visit, don Hugo!” was the shared exclamation of the whole Peruvian Salesian Family.
