“Christmas is a time for children. This is why we want to remember more than ever the children who are deprived of their freedom in adult prisons. Children who are not in the right place and who do not receive the attention and care they need,” explains Ana Muñoz, spokesperson for the organization.
“We at 'Misiones Salesianas' are organizing this exciting concert with Juan Antonio Simarro and his Symphony no. 1 For a better world,” explained the Mission Office, “four movements that will move the public, to continue to address the issue of poverty, inequality and injustice. We will listen to a piece of music that promotes a world in which everyone can live with dignity.”
The concert will see the presence of several orchestras, including "Joven Orquesta Colegios Mayores" of Madrid and "Orquesta Fundación Música Maestro and Camerata de la Joven Orquesta Europea de Madrid", together with choirs composed of members between the ages of 8 and 80 (Choir Menudos Cantantes, Choir of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Choir of Liceo Francés de Madrid, Choir of the Fundación GSD and Choir of the Salesians), which will be directed by Celia Llácer, Germán García Vargas, Adriana Tanus, Juan Enrique Sainz, Marta Pilar Hernando, Guillermo Bautista, Jerónimo Marín, and Juan Antonio Simarro himself.
In addition, Juan Antonio Simarro will perform two short pieces entitled "Cuatro acordes para expresarme" and "Abrazos", before giving way to the symphony, the latter choice also to be performed on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of UNESCO.
This Christmas concert is supported by the Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno Foundation, the International Rotary District 2201 and McYadra, and can count on the collaboration of the Spanish Federation of Unesco Centers and Clubs (FECU).
