(ANS - Mumbai) - The "St Francis Xavier" Salesian Province of India-Mumbai (INB) celebrated the Day of the Salesian Family, Sunday 12 December, at the "Don Bosco" center in the Borivali district of Mumbai. 150 members of the Salesian Family participated from all over the Province.

Fr Diego Nunes, Delegate for the Salesian Family of the Mumbai Province, and summoner of the event, read the message of Fr Savio Silveira, INB Provincial. “As Salesian Family, solidarity should be our hallmark, we support each other as a family,” he wrote in the message. “And as a family, we take care of young people, especially those who are poor, neglected, or in need. May the Salesian Family Day truly strengthen our sense of Solidarity!”

Fr Solomon Rapol, SDB, Rector of the "Don Bosco" house in Borivali, presided over the Eucharist, concelebrated with several Salesians. During Mass, Fr Rapol emphasized the importance of supporting the charismatic identity, of being authentic followers of Don Bosco, and faithful to the values of the Gospel.

Subsequently, Sr. Catherine Fernandes, FMA Provincial Delegate, conducted a session on the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, describing his life and his approach to “daily holiness”, which characterizes Salesian spirituality.

Fr Ashley Miranda, INB Vicar, reflected on the Rector Major’s 2022 Strenna, focusing on the theme “Do all for love, nothing through constraint” and explaining the implications for the present times: "As members of the Salesian Family you are invited to open yourselves to the love of God, to drink from the source of His love and then, recharged by His love, you are called to share His love with the poor. You have a unique mission, that of sharing God's love for young people, according to the spirit of Don Bosco.”

Fr Crispino D’Souza, SDB, Provincial Delegate for Past Pupils, spoke on the theme "Rejuvenating the Salesian Family" and conducted interactive activities. This session helped the participants to apply their thoughts on how to form and rejuvenate the Salesian Family and create a new vision in the current scenario. Finally, the members of the Salesian Family presented a wish list to Fr Nunes.

“I was very motivated to see the large number of members of the Salesian Family participating from all over the Mumbai Province,” said Fr D’Souza. “There is a lot to do for the growth of the members of the Salesian Family, to work in the vineyard of the Lord.”

Numerous representatives of the various groups then intervened to express their joy and satisfaction for being part of the Salesian Family; and subsequently, each group presented their experiences, reports and results during the period of the pandemic; this exercise enriched all the members of the Salesian Family.
