Spain – "DB Wave" project gets underway

26 January 2022

(ANS - Madrid) - The "DB Wave" project, an initiative that brings together 8 Salesian organizations from 6 different European countries - Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Hungary and France - in order to strengthen the European Salesian network of Vocational Education, is moving forward with the established work schedule and is maintaining its continuous review phase.

Among the latest activities, it is worth mentioning the second "Peer Review" carried out on 19 and 20 January to the Vocational Training of the Spain-Mary Help of Christians Province (SMX), an evaluation carried out by the experts Ivan Toscano and Angelica Projetti, of the CNOS-FAP Federation (Italy), and focused on the centers of "Seville-Trinidad" and "Rota".

The "Peer Review" methodology implies that one of the partners verifies the activity of the other entity in various specific aspects such as management, organization, training... For this reason, the work dynamic during these sessions consisted of conducting interviews with different representatives of the educational centers, coordinators of international projects, and work teams.

On some occasions, there was also the opportunity to conduct several interviews with students, such as those conducted with students from the Seville "Trinidad" center, who will participate, or have already participated, in a European project.

In addition to the strengths highlighted in the first peer review conducted in the SMX province, new strengths were noted, such as those concerning the process of continuous improvement and the short- and long-term goals and objectives set in the field of internationalization. In this sense, the study on the possibility of applying for Erasmus accreditation was also highlighted as positive.

Last week, the Salesian VTCs of Pamplona and Soto del Real, which belong to the Province of Spain-St. James the Greater (SSM), were also visited by the organization "SZIF" of Hungary and "Tech Don Bosco" of Madrid in order to learn about, analyze, and evaluate the internationalization model developed in these centers.

Also in this case, the objective of the visits was to put into practice the "Peer Review" methodology.

"We visited two centers, 'Salesianos Pamplona' and 'Salesianos el Pilar', in Soto del Real, which have already developed their own internationalization strategy, have a team dedicated to internationalization, and integrate the work of this team in the different areas of educational activity of their centers," explained Miguel Esquiroz, Director General of the "TECH Don Bosco" Foundation.

These reviews are in addition to the one carried out between Spain and France on January 12 and 13, where the SMX Province evaluated the work in Vocational Training of the French partner, again in relation to internationalization activities.

The purpose of all these visits and peer reviews, in fact, is none other than to improve the performance and internationalization planning of the institutions involved in the project. A project, that of DBWAVE, which aims to develop a more accessible and inclusive Vocational Training in Europe, developing common methodologies and working tools for all VTCs of the continent, and already looking at the creation of a common environment for all, the "DB TECH EUROPE".
