Cuba – The Salesians of Cuba join the celebration of WYD

29 July 2016

(ANS – Havana) – About 1500 young people echoed the celebration of WYD in Cracow. The idea was born from the previous ones done in Santa Clara and Placetas, in 2011 and 2013 respectively. The Holy Father sent a profound message, one full of vitality and full of reasons for the young people participating in this great event: “stir the waters”.

“Dear Young people gathered in Havana – was the message of the Pope to the 1500 youth gathered in Havana – with great hope I join you in this moment when you are tuned in with the universal Church that will have her young heart in Cracow. I hope these days will be for all a special occasion for the culture of encounter, the culture of respect, the culture of understanding and mutual forgiveness. This is ‘stirring the waters’, this is dreaming”.

Msgr. Juan García, Archbishop of Havana, underscored that “the day has a national connotation and turns into an event that will mark the history of our Church. God has been great with Cuban young people and we must be aware that only through the Holy Spirit we shall obtain the fruits we desire”.

The young Salesians in Cuba join the celebration in Cracow. The “Padre Jos Vandor” communication centre will be the means of information of all the moments of the celebration in Havana during these days, while the young pilgrims of SYM/MGS arrived in the capital to participate with enthusiasm in the celebration.

“Tune in with Cracow”, the Pope invited the youth of Cuba to dream big and to “stir the waters”.
