25 February 2022

(ANS - San Paolo) - The Extraordinary Visitation to the Salesian Province "Mary Help of Christians" of Brazil-São Paulo (BSP) began on Wednesday 23 February, conducted by Fr Gabriel Romero, Regional Councilor for America South Cone, on behalf of Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime.

During the visit, which continues until next May, Fr Romero will visit all the Salesian houses in the BSP Province, in dialogue with the religious and collaborators who animate them. At the end of the visit, he shall leave written guidelines.

Elected Regional Councilor for America South Cone at the 28th General Chapter of the Congregation, in March 2020, Fr Romero is on his first Extraordinary Visitation to the Province of São Paulo.

In initiating this process, the Regional Councilor expressed the visit’s objective: “Getting to know the reality of this beautiful Province, which has been working for many years for young people, especially the poorest. Know the reality, but also listen to the people, the Salesians, the educators and all those who work in the social works, in the parishes, and the schools, to appreciate what is being done and to continue walking together. This is also the wish of the Rector Major. We will all meet very soon, God willing,” he underscored.

The first appointment of the visit was a meeting with the Provincial Council of BSP. Then, yesterday, he met with the Rectors of the Province.

Now the first Salesian houses to receive the Regional Councilor will be the communities of Lorraine (25-28 February), Cruzeiro (1 and 2 March), and Pindamonhangaba (3-6 March). Furthermore, from 7 to 10 March Fr Romero will participate in the 31st Provincial Chapter of BSP, in the city of Campos do Jordão.
