(ANS - Kyiv) - Anti-hemorrhagic drugs, first-aid medicines, painkillers, gauze, bandages... As well as blankets, gloves, atraumatic scissors for cutting clothes and shoes or power-banks: these are just some of the many needs that the Salesians in Ukraine have indicated in these days of great suffering for the entire population. The international mobilization of the Salesian Family continues and is at work precisely to support the Salesians in helping the population.

From all over the Salesian world, fundraising and material aid operations continue; the latter must then be brought to Ukraine via Poland or Slovakia. In Slovakia, in particular, the Salesians have made it known that there is an urgent need for mattresses and cots because they are working hard to ensure the reception of refugees, in collaboration with the municipality of Bratislava, which plans to give hospitality to about 50 thousand people.

Moving further west, the Salesians in the Czech Republic are also working on three main directives: spiritual support through prayer, fundraising, and welcoming refugees. "In our country, many Ukrainians live and work, and so it is also in our Salesian organizations. This is also why the Czech Republic is the final destination for many Ukrainians fleeing. The structures of the State are organizing the aid effectively, and our houses are already hosting the first refugees," said Fr Martin Hobza, the Provincial of the Czech Province.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the great aid machine of "Salesian Missions", the Salesian Mission Office based in New Rochelle, in the United States, has also been set in motion.

"Salesian missionaries are doing all they can to help those in need, organizing emergency transportation and providing hospitality, even risking their lives to help families in need. In order for them to do this most effectively, we need the support of our benefactors," said Fr Gus Baek, Salesian Mission Office director.

That's why Salesian Missions has launched an emergency fundraiser for Ukraine, which will be used to raise resources to provide shelter, nutrition, and essential materials to refugees and all people in need.
