Hungary – New National Association of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco

11 March 2022

(ANS – Budapest) – “Once Don Bosco takes you by your hand, he will never let go” said Fr. József Havasi, a former Provincial in Hungary who was appointed Provincial for three terms after the fall of the regime in the early nineties.  The love and gratitude by the Salesians in Hungary which was experienced by young people in the last thirty years, motivated a group of past pupils to establish the first National Association of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco.

On Saturday 5th March 2022, after a one-year preparation, the first group of past pupils met together to approve their first statute and elect the first National Council. Márton Csány is the new President, Ádám Németh (Vice President), Réka Ónodi (Secretary), Annamária Almási and Lőrinc Nacsa, are members of the first Board.

Video messages were sent by the President of World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco, Mr Bryan Magro, the Salesian Family Delegate Fr. Joan Luis Playa, and the World Delegate for Past Pupils Bro Dominic Nguyen.

Marton Csány, as President of the newly founded organisation, presented gifts to the Salesians who were also present for the occasion. The meeting could not have ended without cheerful anecdotes, photos from 10-20-30 years ago, informal discussions, fun games, that is, reliving the atmosphere of the Oratory.
