The Salesian Bishop Clement Mulenga, Bishop of Kabwe, the village authorities, the people, past pupils and the beneficiaries all lined up at the entrance to receive the Rector Major on his arrival. With traditional dancing and music he was escorted on a cart gracefully into the campus, where the youth and the people waited to receive him.

After the initial welcome ceremony and felicitations to the dignitaries, the Rector of Don Bosco Makululu Fr. Michal Wzietek gave a bird’s eye view of the different activities, reiterating that the essential focus of the Salesian mission, that it was precisely the underprivileged children and the poorest youth. He  explained that the name of the place “Ciloto” meant dreams, and the whole Salesian mission was aimed at solely giving life and shaping the dreams of the poor young people. In his turn, Bishop Clement Mulenga also exhorted the Salesian sisters to continue to join hands with the Salesians in working for the poor young girls whose dreams were being challenged and shattered. The Rector Major while addressing the gathering affirmed: “I can see in these young people so much of growth and transformation. The enthusiasm and energy that I see in their eyes is also truly a great dream come true. I feel so grateful to every one for recognizing and supporting the Salesian work. The Salesian Congregation will be close to you to support you, and I am with you in helping you make your dreams come true”.

In the post noon, the Rector Major dedicated his time to the blessing of the newly constructed Science lab and the blessing of the School and the exhibition that the students had prepared, on a wide variety of themes. He took time to visit each of the exhibits and listened to the students and interacted with them with great interest and appreciated their efforts.

The Rector Major also blessed the foundation stone for the new chapel of St. Joseph, and met also the past pupils who were contributing towards the construction of the chapel and thanked them. This was followed by the blessing of the foundation stone for the Don Bosco Makululu Rehabilitation Centre at the new proposed site. The Rector Major in his turn after the blessing affirmed that this new building would soon become an ideal home to shape and give life to the dreams of the young people.

In the evening the Rector Major proceeded to St. Mary’s Parish, Kabwe where he was welcomed by the youth from Zambia and Malawi and a few representatives from Hwange - Zimbabwe and Rundu – Namibia. Later he was also welcomed by the parishioners of St. Mary's parish and the Novices, who greeted him with the traditional welcome. The Rector Major then joined the novitiate community for the evening prayer, which followed some fraternal moments with the novices. Fr. Alphonse Owoudou, the Regional of Africa- Madagascar also reached the novitiate to join the Rector Major in his animation visit to Zambia.
