Thailand – Moment of great fervor in Salesian Thailand

16 May 2022

(ANS - Bangkok) - The Rector Major's Animation Visit to Thailand, proceeds on a very enthusiastic note which echoes in the positive vibes seen among the Salesians, members of the Salesian Family and young people. Infact, Thailand is the 106th country visited by Fr Ángel Fernández Artime since he was elected to lead the Salesian Congregation.

Yesterday, Sunday 15 May, the day opened with the blessing of the "Divine Mercy Square" located in front of the Mary Help of Christians Church in Bangkok, by Mgr Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, SDB, Bishop of Surat Thani, together with the Rector Major, Fr Phuoc, Fr Dheparat Pitisant, and the Parish priest, Fr Aaron E. Alcoseba who were present for the occasion. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist.

After the mass, Fr Á.F. Artime had a cordial meeting with the members of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA). "You have the mission to remind us all that Our Lady must be present in the Salesian mission," he told them.

The afternoon was instead dedicated to the Salesians working in Banpong - a place where three works are located: the Sarasit school, the "Don Bosco" Technical School and Nazareth House. The 10th Successor of Don Bosco met with the religious of all three communities at Sarasit, the site of the first Salesian school in Thailand, and there he also visited the parish dedicated to St Joseph and the local Salesian cemetery.
