Brazil – Salesian Publishing Houses of America at gathering in Brasilia

14 June 2022

(ANS - Brasilia) - From June 7 to 10, the "Meeting of Salesian Publishers of America" was held in Brasilia, at the "Laguna Plaza" Hotel, with representatives from Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, and Paraguay - as well as some guests from Spain, and Fr. Ricardo Campoli, of the Sector for Social Communication based in Rome.

The meeting delved into the theme "Salesian Publishing, Challenges and Opportunities in the Face of Technology, Education, Pastoral Care, Culture and Innovation" and served to establish collaboration among the heads of the different Salesian publishers. It also provided an opportunity to discuss trends for the future of publishing; research new avenues of innovation and technology from a publishing perspective; and present the post-pandemic publishing scenario.

The meeting was also an important opportunity to reflect on the significance of Salesian publishing, with a focus on pastoral publishing, and to share the challenges of Salesian publishers in commercial production and education.

At this meeting, all Salesian publishers in America presented their histories, projects, productions, and innovations, to seek common lines of action and priorities.

With all the challenges the publishing industry is facing around the world, the role of Salesian publishing houses remains crucial to this day. "Good books, spread among the people, are one of the means to maintain the Savior's reign in so many souls," Don Bosco said.
