"Don Bosco Go": Students of a Salesian school in search of saints and blessed.

23 August 2016

Like the popular game for mobile phones, the students of the College of Mary our Help of Christians in Bernal are hunting for Mary Help of Christians, Dominic Savio, Zeferino Namuncurá and others, not in competition with each other, but only in response to questions

"The fever to capture Pokemon has seriously affected students of the College of Mary Help of Christians in the city of Bernal. Today they will celebrate the 201 anniversary of the birth of Don Bosco in a special way: imitating the famous mobile game, the students will go hunting for saints and blesseds, such as Mary Help of Christians, Zeferino Namuncurá, Dominic Savio, Laura Vicuña, Michael Magone Mamma Margaret and others."

The school authorities took advantage of the students’ fanaticism around Pokémon Go and prepared a hunt inspired by the game to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of their Founder, Don Bosco.

"The students are very interested in the idea. They spend the break playing with the phone. There is even a 'pokeparada' in the College chapel. We just had to make sure they didn’t all go there at the same time," said David Brandan, pastoral coordinator of the school.

He also said that "Don Bosco Go" will have the same dynamics as the game. Later they will try to develop an application to search for saints and blessed on the mobile phone.

The game is being played also in Salesian houses in Brazil and Uruguay.
