Italy - Europe's prenovices gathered at Colle Don Bosco in preparation for beginning of Novitiate

16 August 2022

(ANS - Castelnuovo Don Bosco) - From July 4-30, an Italian course was held at Colle Don Bosco for the prenovices of Europe who are preparing to begin their novitiate in September at Colle Don Bosco in Italy.

This year there will be 16 novices doing their novitiate in Italy: 7 Italians, 7 Croatians, 1 from the Middle East (Egypt) and 1 Spaniard. The pre-novitiates from the other pre-novitiates of Europe, namely from Kopiec (Poland) and Poprad (Slovakia), came to Don Bosco Hill from August 1 to 16 to take part in an experience led by a team of Salesians coordinated by the Formation Sector. Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, was present this year and collaborated in the animation of the meeting. The Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, was also present in a day-long visit to the Hill, with a paternal meeting with all the prenovice

The experience seeks to create a bond between young Salesians from Europe, who will have several meetings during their formation journey, and presents the vocational history of Don Bosco, through visits to Salesian places in Piedmont, creating an environment of study, reflection and sharing on the formative stages of Don Bosco's life and his vocational choices, comparing these experiences with those of the pre-novices.

The sharing, prayer, moments of sports, outings and celebration give the "PrEcolle" a formative value greatly appreciated by both the participants and the formators, who see how the group is arranged in an appropriate form to begin the important stage of the Novitiate.
